An Arduino timer answer, probably - Electronics Weekly (blog)

An Arduino timer answer, probably - Electronics Weekly (blog)

Lots of people have put up code, often two or three lines, but I have had trouble getting the code to work properly. In particular, the aim is to use 16bit Timer 1 to produce low-duty-cycle waveforms as part of a DAC adjusting a millivolt reference. The first pulses out of the pwm all have to be of minimum width – 62ns (16MHz processor clock). The problems I was getting were: pwm frequency 16x too high, even though the pulse widths were correct, until a second initiallisation when the frequency corrected. first pwm pulse far too long Ignoring further explanation (which is below) this is the code that cured the problem. TCCR1B = B00011000; // have to turn off timer first to prevent OCR1A gettign wrong value (/16) first initialaiation TCNT1 = 0x0000; OCR1B = 0x0000; OCR1A = chosenMaxCount; TCCR1A = B00110011; TCCR1B = B00011001; BTW, a simple digitalWrite high or low to the ...
