Most consumers unaware of security features on their mobile device, says study Press release, February 26; Alex Wolfgram, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 26 February 2013] Despite the obvious risks to personal privacy if a device is lost or compromised, 70% of consumers are unaware of security features that allow such data to be deleted remotely, according to security software firm AVG Technologies. AVG found that among the 5,000 smartphone users questioned in the UK, US, France, Germany and Brazil, fewer than 40% use their device for either online shopping or online banking. The primary reason given by those holding back from using their device to shop online was a perceived lack of security, with nearly 50% of smartphone users expressing that using a mobile device is not as safe or secure as using a computer.
