Chip design – it’s not rocket science:

How many times have you heard the expression – it’s not rocket science, when applied to something that is generally not considered to be the most highly technical subject on this planet. But let’s face it – rocket science is quite frankly not that difficult. It is all about burning fuel to create as much thrust as possible for a given weight of material tied to a simple control system to keep it going in the right direction. Solid rocket engines were initially developed by the Chinese hundreds of years ago. They are used because they are so primitive. Once ignited they cannot be controlled and they certainly can’t be turned off. It is just brute force! While advancements have been made in the past few decades, it has been quite yawn inspiring compared to what the semiconductor and EDA industry goes through all the time.
