@Infineon and @Globalfoundries collaborate on 40nm embedded flash development.

According to the partners, the agreement will focus on developing technology to support Infineon's embeded flash cell design as well as on manufacturing of 40nm embedded flash mcus for automotive and security applications. The agreement is said by Infineon to be consistent with its strategy to codevelop cmos technology for 65nm and smaller nodes. "Next generation embedded flash microcontrollers with 40nm process structures will further enhance our competitive strength in the automotive and industrial, as well as chip card and security, markets," said Arunjai Mittal, pictured, a member of Infineon's management board. Process and product qualification for security microcontrollers is planned for the second half of 2015. Automotive microcontroller production start is scheduled for the first half of 2017. Production of the 40nm mcus will start at Globalfoundries' Singapore sit...
