NXP has announced an ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller with core voltage of 1.65-1.95V and 1.65-3.6V for the IO. Called the LPC1100LV series, the chips offer 50Mips from a 2x2mm footprint. "Given the same task, the 1.65-1.95V Vdd offers more than three times power reduction compared to competitor Cortex-M0 devices using 3.3V Vdd, claimed the firm, adding that 1.6µA deep sleep and 5µs wake-up are available. Up to 8kbyte RAM and 32kbyte flash (256byte erase sector) are available, with SPI, UART and I2C serial, and options on: 10bit, 8channel 400ksample/s ADC, two 32bit timers and two 16bit timers. There is also 1% 12MHz oscillator. The controllers are also available in a 5x5mm QFN package with 1.8V Vdd and 3.3V IO.
