Embedded: Everspin shows MRAM in cognitive computer

Everspin Technologies, the developer of Spin-Torque magnetic-RAM (MRAM), has demonstrated its memory technology being used in a cognitive computing platform, at Embedded World in Nuremburg, Germany. Cognitive computing firm CogniMem Technologies is using MRAM to store and restore the content of the neurons on its recently introduced CogniBlox reconfigurable module, which features four CM1K neuron chips or a total of 4,096 silicon neurons that mimic how the human brain processes data. MRAM offers SRAM-like speeds, non-volatility and long endurance, which makes it suitable for massively parallel pattern recognition tasks used in cognitive computing. Nanosecond access times are necessary to support real-time learning and pattern recognition.
