Self-cleaning, fog- and glare-resistant nanotextured glass #electronics

RESEARCHERS at MIT have developed nanotextured glass which is self-cleaning and resists fogging and glare, with obvious benefits for solar panels and displays. The researchers hope their glare-free glass can be made via an inexpensive manufacturing process, allowing it to be used in optical devices, on screens, windshields and solar panels. The technology research, published in ACS Nano, was co-authored by mechanical engineering graduate students Kyoo-Chul Park and Hyungryul Choi, chemical engineering professor Robert Cohen, and mechanical engineering professors Gareth McKinley and George Barbastathis. The surface pattern of the new type of glass consists of an array of nanoscale cones which have a base width of 200nm and a height of 1000nm each.
