Friday Quiz: Signal Bandwidth, Eric Bogatin @eetimes #DesignCon @TeledyneLecroy

Friday Quiz: Signal Bandwidth, Eric Bogatin @eetimes #DesignCon @TeledyneLecroy

A signal's bandwidth is related to its rise time and clock frequency. Try these calculations. As many of you know, I spend much of my time teaching and writing. Since November 2013, I've been writing a biweekly series for EDN called Rules of Thumb that appears as part of the All Aboard! blog. With DesignCon just days away, the next few Friday quizzes will be taken from the Rules of Thumb series. After that, Rules of Thumb questions will appear here from time to time. Questions 1, 2, and 3 come from Rule of Thumb #1: Bandwidth of a signal from its rise time while questions 4, 5, and 6 come from Rule of Thumb #2: Signal bandwidth from clock frequency . As with all other Friday quizzes, this week's answers appear on the last page. 1. What is the bandwidth of a DDR signal with a 0.3 ns rise time? 0.67 GHz 1 GHz 1.1667 GHz 1.67 GHz 2.33 GHz
