HP, Dell adopt new approaches to regain server orders Aaron Lee, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Thursday 22 January 2015] Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell have both recently taken steps looking to win back orders that were lost to Taiwan-based white-box server players. HP has partnered with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) to offer price-competitive solutions in North America, while Dell is launching solutions via Microsoft's cloud computing platform to help enterprises establish private cloud data centers. Currently, Taiwan's white-box server suppliers are still mainly focusing on supplying customized motherboard products to Internet service providers such as Google and Amazon, but they have been aggressively looking to supply full-set server products to enterprises to raise their revenues and profit, according to sources from the supply chain.
