Microsoft increasing orders to China makers Sammi Huang, Taipei; Alex Wolfgram, DIGITIMES [Thursday 26 February 2015] China supply chain makers are seeing orders from Microsoft increase as the company shifts orders away from Taiwan makers and prepares to launch two new smartphones. Microsoft has become increasingly concerned over costs and is adjusting its supply chain to receive components at more competitive pricing that previously received from Taiwan makers. Truly Optoelectronics is expected to be one of the main suppliers for Microsoft in 2015, increasing its proportion of relevant orders up from 2014 in addition to steady orders from China handset vendors for mid-range and lower-priced units. Supply chains expect weaker performances in the first quarter of 2015 due to high reserves at China handset vendors in addition to shorter production periods as a result of the ...
