Specifying a ±5-cm resolution, the DPS310 miniature MEMS barometric pressure sensor for use in mobile and wearable gadgets and IoT provides reliable and accurate performance at pressures from 300 hPa to 1200hPa and at temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. The sensor is based on a capacitive sensing principle rather than a piezo-electric principle employed in most other digital pressure sensors. In high-precision mode it can measure heights within ±5cm enabling the exact detection of transient states, which are reportedly the biggest challenges of indoor navigation. Measuring 2 mm x 2.5mm x 1 mm, the component draws less than 1μA in standby mode. In low power mode the current consumption is 3μA at one measurement per second.
