Another reason not to join Facebook

"Another reason not to join Facebook..." and yet, people are signing up to Facebook in droves around the world, every day. I'm sorry, but respectfully, I feel this is pure fear mongering, and in a world where social media is more and more important to one's career, advice about NOT signing up to facebook is not only a little old-school, but also rather unhelpful in my opinion. You may as well tell people not to drive because it's dangerous. Or not to pay with a credit card in restaurants, because a waiter could steal their card number. Or not register to any online site, or fill out any survey because it facilitates identity theft. Identity theft IS a real problem, I'll grant you that.... but instead of limiting yourself online, just take sensible steps to protect yourself and use with caution. Don't feel the urge to share your phone number, date of birth, mother's maiden ...
