China solar module makers allow customers to extend payment periods Nuying Huang, Taipei; Jackie Chang, DIGITIMES [Thursday 5 July 2012] China-based solar module firms have been allowing customers to extend payment periods up to 120-180 days. This makes China-based solar module firms more competitive as customers are more willing to issue orders. Taiwan-based solar module ODM firms normally require 60-90 day payment periods. China is the world's largest solar module supplier. Most vertically integrated solar firms in China focus on selling solar modules. Compared to losses incurred in other segments of the supply chain, selling solar modules can generate more profits. Hence many China-based firms have been cutting their capacity for upstream products and issuing OEM orders to other firms to decrease losses. Competition among China-based solar module firms has been fierce. ...
