TSMC has record Q2

TSMC, the world’s largest silicon foundry, had June revenues which were 1.6% down on May’s revenues at $1.45bn, but Q2 revenues were $4.27bn which was a record for the company. The June revenue figure was 18% up from June 2011. TSMC expects Q2 gross margin of 49%. UMC, the world’s second largest silicon foundry, has reported June sales of $310m which are 1% up on the $306m of June 2011 and 0.9% up on May’s sales figure. So far this year, to the end of June, UMC’s sales are 8.68% down on the same period last year. January-to-June 2011 sales were $1.9bn. For January-to-June 2012 sales were $1.7bn.
