China market: Government to push domestic solar energy demand to 6GWp in 2012 Nuying Huang, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Friday 27 July 2012] The China government plans to push up demand for solar energy in the domestic market up to 6GWp in 2012 to help local solar cell and module makers, which have seen their exports squeezed by anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations initiated by the US, India and the EU, according to industry sources. Most first-tier solar cell and module makers in China are currently running at half of their capacities due to high order volatility, the sources revealed. Some makers also hold a conservative view over the government's efforts, expecting total domestic demand for solar energy to reach only 4GWp at the highest in 2012.
