Researchers from Japan-based Rohm, Aquafairy, and Kyoto University have collaborated to develop a compact, fully portable hydrogen-powered fuel cell that can generate electricity with just a bit of water, making it ideal for emergency situations. Researchers have developed a highly efficient hydrogen fuel cell. For those unfamiliar with the technology, a fuel cell doesn’t store electricity; rather, it generates it like a power-generating plant. In fact, a fuel cell can continue to supply electric power so long as hydrogen and oxygen fuel are supplied to it continuously. This hydrogen fuel cell, in particular, works vis-à-vis a chemical reaction between water and a solid; specifically, calcium hydride sheets developed by the researchers.
