Demand for IC solutions from China robot markers increasing Sammi Huang, Shenzhen; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Monday 25 April 2016] China-based hardware makers have rushed into the development and manufacture of robot products, offering an opportunity for Taiwan-based chipset vendors to ramp up their shipments to the sector, according to sources from Taiwan's IC supply chain. China makers are testing the market by rolling out various types of robots for diverse applications, including for education, child-care, cleaning, conversation, transportation and robotic arms, said the sources. Taiwan-based smartphone solution vendor MediaTek reportedly has landed orders from brand robot makers in China, and related robot-use ICs are likely to become a growth driver for MediaTek, the sources indicated.
