MediaTek takes 10% stake in SiP module maker AcSiP, says paper EDN, October 16; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 16 October 2012] MediaTek has taken up a 10.2% stake in wireless SiP module maker AcSiP Technology through a private placement, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN ) report. MediaTek's total investment in AcSiP amounted to NT$196 million (US$6.68 million), or NT$100 per share. Shares of AcSiP are available for NT$164.3 in Taiwan's gray securities market on October 15, the paper noted. MediaTek will reveal more details of the deal on its third-quarter financial report, the paper quoted the IC design house as indicating. IC backend service company Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) also holds a 13.37% share in AcSiP currently. AcSiP posted revenues of NT$1.72 billion, net profits of NT$119 million and an EPS of NT$9.7 for 2011, EDN said.
