Taiwan Mobile January-September mobile Internet-access revenues up 5.6% on year Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Friday 26 October 2012] Taiwan Mobile (TWM), one of the three largest mobile telecom carriers in Taiwan, generated revenues of NT$3.763 billion (US$125 million) from mobile Internet-access services during January-September 2012, increasing on year by 5.6%, the company announced at an October 25 investors conference. Smartphones took up 74% of handsets sold bundled with contracts in the third quarter, and more than 50% of the sold smartphones were priced below NT$9,000, TWM indicated. As of the end of September, 35% of mobile communications subscribers were using smartphones. Currently, 38 smartphones and tablets are available for contract-bundled sale, TWM noted.
