TI samples lowest power MSP430 microcontroller

Texas Instruments is sampling its Wolverine its lowest power microcontroller family. The MSP430FR59xx microcontrollers consume less than 100µA/MHz in active power consumption. There is a 360nA in real-time clock mode with fast wakeup time of 6.5µs. This compares with Freescale Semiconductor's Kinetis KW01 Cortex-M0+ based processor which consumes just 40µA/MHz in typical conditions. TI's FRAM-based microcontrollers are targeted at low power applications such as wireless sensing, energy harvesting and smart metering. Up to 64kB embedded FRAM, direct memory access (DMA) engine, 12-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC), analogue comparator, capacitive touch IOs and UART, SPI and I2C serial interfaces.
