A 2016 report from Stanford titled "Artificial Intelligence and Life in 2030" identifies public safety and security as one of the domains in which AI will become much more prevalent in the next few decades. Of course, aside from the technical and analytical questions on how cognitive computing technology can be used for security purposes, there's a wealth of legal and ethical questions to answer about the use of AI, machine learning, and big data analysis in preventing crime.
