ARM forms Trustonic to secure mobile payments

Trustronic, 40% owned by ARM, is developing a platform for secure payments over mobile devices. ARM’s co-owners of Trustronic are Gemalto, the Dutch security company, and Giesecke & Devrient, the German payment systems company. Gemalo and G&D each have 30%. Partners adopting the Trustronic platform are Samsung, Cisco, 20th Century Fox, Mastercard, Sprint, Symantec, Wave Systems, Nvidia, Discretix, Irdeto, Inside Secure, and Good Technology. Customers are mostly kept secret. The security is built into the ICs, the software and the payments system. It should speed up the process of verifying mobile payments, The company is headed up by Ben Cade formerly of ARM.
