Commentary: EU telecom equipment probe against China is unnecessary Irene Chen, Taipei; Jackie Chang, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 28 May 2013] The telecom industry believes that by the end of 2013, China will likely issue 4G licenses to telecom carriers, and hence many equipment firms have been eager to gain share of the market. However, Europe recently announced plans to begin anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation against China-based telecom equipment firms and this is likely to spark a trade war that can be harmful to Europe-based telecom equipment firms hoping to obtain market share in China. Currently, the major 4G network equipment firms that are able to compete in China are US-based Cisco, China-based Huawei, ZTE, and Europe-based Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Siemens Networks.
