Intel invests in Irish R&D: via @eetimes

LONDON – Intel Corp. has announced that it is embarking on a second phase of research investment at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland, worth $1.5 million over the next three years. The first phase of the program ran from 2009 to 2012 and included research collaboration on the junctionless transistor initially worked on at Tyndall by Professor Jean-Pierre Colinge. Professor Colinge has subsequently taken up a research position at TSMC. The renewed agreement will again provide Intel with a commercial exploitation license to technology created through the collaboration with Tyndall. The areas covered in the first agreement and to be continued in the second include photonics, device modeling and material development.
