Taiwan market: So-net steps into online games Miranda Chuang, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Thursday 30 May 2013] So-net Entertainment Taiwan, an ISP and provider of payment services to online game operators in Taiwan, on May 29 announced the extension of its business to online gaming services, with the first online game developed by China-based UT Game to be launched in July 2013. So-net has 140,000-150,000 fiber and ADSL Internet-access subscribers, with revenues accounting for 50% of total revenues, the company indicated. So-net said it expects revenues from online games to reach 30% of total revenues by the end of 2014. In addition, So-net has established a joint venture to operate handset-based gaming services with Cayenne Entertainment Technology. The joint venture will start operations in July 2013 and launch 10 mobile games by the end of the year, So-net indicated.
