A strong light from a lamp is directed at the PV battery located on the back side of the e-paper. The power consumption of the e-paper shown in the picture was measured when the screen was being refreshed. A rechargeable battery is placed under the stand. The back side of the e-paper device AU Optronics (AUO) Corp showcased a device made by attaching a flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) battery to the back of flexible electronic paper (e-paper) at FPD International 2011. The company calls the device "Un-plugged Flexible E-paper Display," meaning that it does not require a power plug.
