GP Joule Opens 20.8 MW CIGS Solar Power Plant Utilizing Q-Cells' Q.Smart Modules: GP Joule, of North Frisia, Ger...

October 31, 2011... GP Joule, of North Frisia, Germany opened a CIGS solar power plant constructed in just eight and a half weeks with 200,000 Q-Cells' Q.Smart modules. The project was developed by the Stuttgart-based project developer Martin Bucher. The company Module24 selected the Q-Cells products for the plant. The CIGS solar power plant, Solarpark Ammerland, opened Friday in the municipality of Wiefelstede in Lower Saxony. Lower Saxony’s premier David McAllister and about 100 guests attended the grand opening. The facility has a total capacity of over 20.8 MW of power and will cover the electricity needs of more than 6000 households. Q-Cells claims that its Q.SMART solar modules based on CIGS thin-film technology, have efficiency ratings of up to 14.7 % in relation to aperture area.
