Global NAND flash output value to rise 13% in 2014, says DRAMeXchange

Global NAND flash output value to rise 13% in 2014, says DRAMeXchange Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Friday 29 November 2013] Output value for the global NAND flash industry is forecast to rise 13.3% to US$28 billion in 2014, thanks to the increased adoption of solid-state drives (SSD) among PCs and mobile devices, as well as more stable NAND chip prices, according to DRAMeXchange. That would mark a second straight year of double-digit growth. SSDs will be the driving force of NAND flash memory in 2014, said DRAMeXchange. Among all applications, demand for SSDs are set to enjoy to the highest growth in 2014 consuming 25% of the total NAND flash chips shipped compared to 13% in 2013, DRAMeXchange indicated. NAND flash demand for eMMC and eMCP devices is also expected to be brisk during 2014 as global shipments of smartphones and tablets will continue to rise, DRAMeXchange ...
