SMIC establishes 12-inch CIS supply chain in China Josephine Lien, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Monday 30 June 2014] The 12-inch color filter and microlens array production line of Toppan SMIC Electronics (Shanghai) (TSES), a joint venture between Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and Japan-based Toppan Printing set up in China, has been completed and has put into commercial operations, according to SMIC. The new color filter and microlens array production line will connect with SMIC's 12-inch CMOS image sensor (CIS) wafer production line, forming a 12-inch CIS supply chain in China, SMIC said. With SMIC's front-end 12-inch CIS wafer manufacturing line in volume production and existing domestic back-end package capacity, SMIC will build the first complete 12-inch CIS supply chain in China covering all the processes, SMIC noted.
