Spot DDR3 4Gb chips likely to hit new high soon, says paper EDN, June 30; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Monday 30 June 2014] Spot prices of mainstream DDR3 4Gb chips are likely to hit as high as US$4.60 soon after rising nearly 20% sequentially in the second quarter of 2014, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. Spot prices of DDR3 4Gb chips hit a 18-month high of US$4.35 in the mid-session on June 27, the paper quoted DRAMeXchange as indicating. Average prices of DDR 3 4Gb parts settled at US$4.255 on the session. Additionally, spot prices for 2Gb chips topped at US$2.35 and averaged at US$2.208 on the same trading day. Meanwhile, contract quotes for DRAM chips are expected to hike 5-10% sequentially in the third quarter of 2014, the paper quoted DRAMeXchange as saying.
