Toshiba Rolls Out Small-size 13-Mpixel CMOS Image Sensor (日経BP) The new CMOS ima

The new CMOS image sensor (data courtesy of Toshiba) [Click to enlarge image] Toshiba Corp started volume production of a 13-Mpixel BSI (back-side illuminated) CMOS image sensor. The company began to ship the product, "T4KB3," for smartphones and tablet computers April 24, 2015. Its power consumption is about 47% lower than that of Toshiba's previous CMOS image sensor, "T4K82." The lower power consumption was realized by reducing the power consumption of the power-supply circuit, the company said. Even when all the pixels are operated at a frame rate of 30fps, its power consumption is 200mW or lower. The chip size of the new sensor, which Toshiba claims is the smallest in the industry, is about 24% smaller than that of the previous product.
