CHT to purchase 4G equipment from Ericsson and Nokia, says paper Commercial Times, June 27; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Monday 27 June 2016] Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has announced that it plans to purchase up to NT$2.49 billion (US$76.72 million) and NT$1.947billion of 4G equipment from Ericsson and Nokia, respectively, in the second half of 2016, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report. Since Ericsson and Nokia have been buying customer premises equipment (CPE) from Taiwan-based networking device suppliers, CHT's purchases of telecom equipment will indirectly benefit local networking device makers, said the paper. Local CPE suppliers, including HitronTechnologies, Unizyx Holding, Wistron NeWeb, Gemtek Technology and Wha Yu Industrial, are expected to land windfall orders from Nokia and Ericsson, added the paper.
