Within those 530 pages, EDN asked industry leaders and futurists to predict what technology might look like 25 years into the future, that being the year 2006. Now, we're ten years past that date. The essays found in this issue range from engineering education to computers to fantasies about the year 2006. Some are from science fiction while others were simply extensions of the technology at the time. Indeed, some of the authors are science-fiction writers such as Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, and Alvin Toffler. As often happens with predictions, some are so vague that you can argue that they're accurate. For example, many predicted higher-speed, lower-power ICs.
