Taiwan to be flexible in allocating frequency band for IoT, says minister Irene Chen, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 27 July 2016] The Taiwan government, specifically for IoT application, will allocate frequency band units based on flexibility and application-oriented considerations, according to minister of transportation and communications Ho-Chen Tan. Ho-Chen said his ministry will consider international tendency of using unlicensed frequency band units and low-power wireless communication technologies in IoT application. In addition, dedicated band units may be assigned for specific IoT application such as eTag and smart power meters, he noted. Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) on July 26 indicated that it will soon finish planning for assigning unlicensed frequency band units for IoT application.
