Inspection tool supplier HMI doubles EPS in January-September period Patty Wang, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 31 October 2012] Electron beam inspection (EBI) equipment maker Hermes Microvision (HMI) has reported an EPS of NT$16.33 (US$0.56) for the first nine months of 2012, doubling from NT$8.12 of a year earlier. Net profits for the third quarter of 2012 reached NT$348 million, decreasing 14.4% from the previous quarter. Third-quarter EPS stood at NT$5.25. For the first three quarters of 2012, revenues were up 69.3% on year to NT$3.01 billion, net profits increased 110% to NT$1.03 billion, while gross margin moved up to 68.1% from 58.1% of a year earlier. HMI currently holds an 85% share of the global EBI equipment market, with the ratio almost reaching 100% in the 28nm wafer manufacturing process segment, according company CFO Jasper Lee.
